London-based Hive Cleaning is the latest cleaning contractor to license TemplaCMS integrated contract management software to manage its key business processes. Hive will be taking the core system of ten modules, along with Quality Audits, Mobile App and Customer Portal, with integrated T&A to follow next year.
Only three years old, but with turnover already exceeding £2m and over 100 staff, Hive is a fast-growing contractor operating exclusively in Central London. Servicing high end offices, Hive is one of a growing band of companies operating with an ethical stance that includes paying all staff the London Living Wage and minimising its carbon footprint. Hive holds the Planet Mark accreditation, as part of which its electric vehicle fleet uses fuel from 100% renewable sources. In 2020 Hive is looking to become one of the first cleaning companies in the UK to secure B Corp (Benefit Corporation) status.
Although the company is at an early stage of development, Louis Beaumont, Hive’s MD, felt there were three reasons why the time was right to upgrade to an integrated contract management system. As Louis says: “Firstly, the company could justify the investment financially and secondly, our systems were starting to feel the strain. Until now we could manage the business with a combination of inhouse systems, people and paperwork. However, the lack of integration between them all has gradually been increasing the pressure on area managers and our admin teams, leading to a general frustration that administration was getting in the way of driving the business forward. The third and final reason is that we felt it would be much easier to implement Templa at our present size than in a few years’ time when our focus will undoubtedly be on so many other things.
For a smaller company trying to grow revenue, it’s critical to keep a hold on management and admin headcount, but simultaneously ensure that budgets are controlled and every last pound of income collected. Templa’s workforce management function plays a key role here, helping staff keep a track of one-off work, annual pay/price reviews and staffing schedules. This, combined with the software’s seamless integration to T&A systems and the main janitorial suppliers’ software will, as Louis says, give Hive the chance to “focus on the important things and grow in an organised way.”
